The consultancy Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, provides management, consulting and training services for the aviation industry worldwide. With four subsidiaries and associated companies, Munich Airport International employs around 100 highly qualified experts and can look back on more than 125 successfully completed projects in over 45 countries.

We are looking for a Head of Competence (f/m/d).

In this role you will lead and grow a high‑performing consulting team while driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and commercial success across a portfolio of global airport clients and projects. You will be accountable for client account development and project delivery, acting as a trusted advisor to senior management.

Mit uns etwas bewegen – die Aufgaben

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a team of approximately 10 consultants.
  • Account Management: Manage and grow assigned client accounts, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for expert support across business development, project delivery, and marketing.
  • Product Management: Drive market, network, and product development, including stakeholder engagement and preparation of business development materials.
  • Business Development: Lead business development for assigned accounts, including proposals, contract negotiations and full P&L responsibility.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure successful delivery of consulting projects, with short term involvement as Project Manager or Subject Matter Expert when required.
  • Project Supervision: Oversee project and financial performance to ensure quality, profitability, and high customer satisfaction.

Zum Abheben – die nötigen Qualifikationen

  • Education: Master's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 15 years of experience in management or project management with 10 years in the field of airport or aviation.
  • Leadership: Inspiring leader with strong interpersonal and multicultural communication skills.
  • Project Management Expertise: Extensive knowledge of multi-project management and tools like MS Office, MS Project and Primavera.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A service-oriented professional with proven customer management experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation, negotiation, and conflict management abilities.
  • Languages: Excellent written and spoken English skills; German is an advantage.
  • Clear Background: Certified clean police record required for airport access.
